Cover Letter Generator

Turns your CV and the job ad into a cover letter that connects the two. Swiss greetings and letter conventions are built in.

Features

The generator reads your CV and the job ad, then writes the letter that connects them: this is what they asked for, here is where you've done it. That connection is the whole job of a cover letter, and it's the part that takes longest when you write it yourself.

The tone follows the employer. A small business in Aarau gets a letter that sounds personal and approachable; a large company in Zurich gets one that stays formal. The two read applications differently, and a letter pitched at the wrong register is noticeable even when the content is right.

Swiss conventions come built in: the greeting formulas, the CH letter norm, "Freundliche Grüsse" instead of the German equivalents. Details you'd otherwise have to look up once per application.

How It Works

You upload your CV and paste in the job ad. The generator works out which of your experience answers which requirement, and writes a complete draft in minutes.

Then the draft is yours. Edit it until it sounds like you, because it should. What you're skipping is the blank page and the two hours of rewriting the opening paragraph, not the thinking about whether it's true.

Who It's For

This is for you if you know exactly what you're good at and still stall on writing it down. Being able to do the work and being able to sell it in one page are different skills, and only one of them is on the job description.

It's particularly useful if you're German and applying in Switzerland. The conventions here are their own, the differences are small, and small differences in a letter are exactly the kind a recruiter registers without being able to say why.

Why It Matters

The motivation letter covers why you want the role. The cover letter covers why you can do it, and it's usually the first thing a recruiter reads, before your CV. That order matters: the letter decides how carefully the CV gets read. "I hereby apply for the advertised position" tells a recruiter you sent the same letter to thirty companies, which is generally true and never an advantage. A letter that names their actual requirement and your actual experience buys you the one thing you need at that moment, which is a careful reader.
