How it works

What happens to your CV, from the file to the result.

From PDF to result

  1. Your browser renders the PDF. The pages are converted to an image on your own machine. The original file is never uploaded and never leaves your computer.
  2. A vision model reads the pages. It reads what is actually on the page instead of extracting text from the PDF. That is why it catches layout problems, multi-column tables, and whether an application photo is there at all.
  3. Scoring runs against your target country's rule set. Not against an average of several countries.
  4. Fixed checks then run in code. Employment gaps, entries in the wrong order, duplicate recommendations: those are arithmetic, not judgement calls. A language model missed them reproducibly, so they live in the program instead.

Why the target country matters

A missing application photo is not a defect in Germany because of the AGG. In Switzerland, many hiring managers expect one. Someone applying from Germany into Switzerland breaks rules nobody told them about. What counts is the employer's country, not where you live.

Switzerland, Austria and Germany each have their own rule set. The sources behind them: arbeit.swiss (SECO), the Career Services of the University of Zurich and the University of Bern, the Council of Europe for language levels, the Austrian AMS and the German Bundesagentur für Arbeit. Every source was opened and checked individually. Where they contradict each other, such as black-and-white photos in Germany, the contradiction stays in the rule set and is resolved into one clear instruction rather than smoothed into a fake consensus.

Where your data sits

  • AI processing: Switzerland and the EU. CV and scan with Infomaniak in Geneva and AlpineAI in Zurich; cover letters, CV tailoring and company research with Claude models via InnoGPT on EU servers. Only the application photo goes to Replicate in the USA for retouching, without name or contact details. Every request is checked against a fixed list of permitted providers. If a provider isn't on it, the request is aborted rather than sent. If the list is empty, nothing is sent at all. Your data is never used for training.
  • Application and database: Switzerland. Hosted with Infomaniak in Geneva under the Swiss Data Protection Act (revFADP).
  • Backups: Switzerland. Encrypted with AES-256-GCM, stored with Infomaniak.
  • Transport: TLS 1.3 throughout (AES-256-GCM cipher), including the leg to the AI.

The full list, including payment processing and email delivery, is on the subprocessors page.

What gets deleted, and when

  • The uploaded image is deleted as soon as the analysis finishes.
  • The raw text of your CV is deleted once your profile has been built from it. After that, the profile is the only copy.
  • Scans without an account expire after seven days and are deleted automatically.
  • If you leave an email address for a running analysis, it is deleted the moment the message goes out.
  • Scores and recommendations stay as long as your account does. They are the result you came for.

With Self-Restore you download your profile encrypted, we delete it from the database, and you can import it into a new account later. Details on Data lifecycle and Security.

Why no result reaches 100%

Applicant tracking systems come in many variants and score differently. A tool that promises you 100% is scoring against its own idea of a CV, not against the systems that will actually read your application. More on the ATS score page.
